Can cortisone injection be taken after having metatarsal bursa removed?

Hello, Do you know of the success rate for having a metatarsal bursa removed? I have one between my 3rd and 4th toes on my left foot. I ve had an ultrasound on it, and the radiologist recommended having a cortisone injection to help treat it. However, I have a fear of injections and have also heard that cortisone s aren t always a permanent solution which is why I have made an appointment to see a foot surgeon. Thank you.

Hello,
Welcome to HCM,
As you have undergone removal of metatarsal bursa, which is very painful. Following removal of bursa hydrocortisone injection definitely help to reduce the inflammation and swelling.
Cortisone injection will have very good effect on outcome of the removal of inflamed bursa.
As you have planned to consult foot surgeon, he will decide the risk and benefit of cortisone injection.
Thank you.
