Can Contraceptive Pill Be Taken At The Time Of Period?

Can I start birth control right when I get it? I want to be able to start having sex (7 days after the birth control begins) but I m not supposed to get my period for 2 weeks. My doctor told me to start it the Sunday after my period but I don t really want to wait until then. Is it okay to start?
