Can Colonoscopy Help With Bowel Movements?

my husband has als. he has had it for over 5 yrs. he has a trache, peg tube, ona ventilator(life support). for the last two yrs, everytime we go to the hopital, its because he hasen t had a bowel movement. they say it is getting harder for him to push it out due to loss of muscles. the doctors ssaid possibly colonoscopy. will this help him go to the bathroom. doesn t he still have to push to go b.m.? or does it just go into the bag by itself, w/ no pushing. pls help, this will be the complication he dies from if we dont get this fixed. the doctors have always told us , he will not die of his disease, but complications of the disease. help me. sincerely, Sam Meyers
