Can Calamine Lotion Be Used On 1 Year Old Baby For Itching Due To Rashes And Eczema?

Hi, My 12 month old baby has eczema but for the past month or so he s been having allerghic reactions to food, which is causing him to come up in a rash on his face an neck . Sometimes it flares up quite quickly and he is constantly itching. Can I use calamine lotion on his face and neck? Is it safe?

Hi,
If you are sure of eczema cause as a food allergy, stop the offending food.
Calamine lotion can be applied on other body area, but not on face and neck;as skin is very sensitive and chances of getting lotion in to eyes is high.
Instead emollients are better used. If itching is severe anti-histaminics will be required.
It will be good to check with dermatologist personally.
