Can Burning Sensation While Urinating Suggest UTI?
This morning I woke up with UTI symptoms of burning when urinating & feeling like I need to use the bathroom non-stop. I had a annual gyn appt this morning & told her of the symptoms. She did not do any tests but gave me an antibiotic. I took my first dose this evening. I am also taking over the counter UTI meds to help the symptoms but don't feel like it is helping. The burning & frequency has increased & I feel like I have to keep my muscles tight all the time to avoid urinating. This evening I've started passing clots & blood. The blood seems to occur at the end of emptying my bladder. I don't have any other symptoms or soreness. Not sure how I'm going to be able to sleep. I'm worried. Is this typical with UTI's or Is this an emergency situation?

Hi thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query.Your problem is most likely Urinary infection which can be secondary due to urinary stone.A urine routine should be done to rule out urinary infection and ultrasound examination to rule out urinary stone.I usually give antibiotic empirically and send urine for culture and sensitivity after that.Later change antibiotic if necessary after culture report.I also recommend them to drink cranberry juice or barley water to alkalize the urine. If stone is present treatment will depend on the size of stones.Small stones will pass through urine by taking more water and alkalizers like potassium citrate.Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further query.
