Can Birth Control Pills Be Used As Emergency Contraceptive Pills?

Good afternoon, happy Holidays! I took emergency contraceptive on Sunday afternoon, and got back on birth control (cyclafem 1-35-28) the very next day. I was on the pill for three days and last night the condom broke. Am I at risk for being pregnant? Or can I use the cyclafem as emergency contraceptive?

Hello,

First thing I want to tell you that breaking of the condom does not always result in getting pregnant. The timing of sex is also important.

If you've had sex at the beginning of your menstrual cycle, there are very little chances that you will get pregnant.

Now so far as using of your regular cyclafem as an emergency contraceptive is concerned, you will have to take 4 tablets at a time followed by 4 tablets again after 12 hours.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma,
