Can Anxiety Lead To Stroke?

Hi, I was diagnosed with Panic/Anxiety disorder, that being said, I sometimes have the feeling that I am having a heart attack. I recently went to the Dr. and my BP was 150/100. Could my panic disorder be misdiagnosed and I have high BP instead. I am 30 years old, but want to make sure I take care of it. I don t want to be at risk for a stroke

Psychiatrist 's  Response
HI
Thanks for using healthcare magic

In anxiety, heart rate usually increases. That may be the reason in your case for having high blood pressure. You should consult a psychiatrist for proper diagnosis. If your investigations are normal, then chances of high blood pressure due to anxiety disorder is high. In that case, do some relaxation exercise and consult a psychiatrist.

Thanks
