Can anxiety before pregnancy test affect the results?

Hello Everyone, Me and my wife are going to have family planning. My wife has missed her periods. She has a regular period. She checked her pregnancy test. It came to negative. Let me tell you one thing. Before performing pregnancy test she is thinking too much about it and excited also. Does she need to wait for sometime to re-perform pregnancy test or is it simply hormonal imbalance due to too much thought process ?

Hello,

No, emotions like anxiety, stress can not affect Pregnancy test results. But in early pregnancy, due to low HCG hormone, pregnancy tests can be negative.

So in my opinion, you should wait for 1-2 weeks more. Get done repeat test after 1-2 weeks.

If this repeat test is also negative then consult a gynecologist and get done detailed hormone levels and ultrasound abdomen to rule out the hormonal imbalance.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Hi, I am 32 years old and married for last 6 years. in 2001, i had tubercular ovarian cysts which were four in number and were quite big. Due to this, i had to take anti-tubercular for around 1.5 years. my periods were dark brown and dry in the beginning, but later fall back to the normal. I got married in 2005. In the first few months i was regular with my periods and after around a month or so...i started getting delayed...initially for a few days and then for around a month. I took doctors advice and got my self checked. Tests and reports tells that one of my F- tube (Left) is blocked and i also have some small cysts. I am gaining weight and often feel low. There is a continuous sever pain in lower back and hip on my left side. It pains when i stand up after a few minutes of continuous sitting. Also i often feel pain at my left lower stomach (i think its in ovary) but didn t go for checkup. Till now I couldn t concieve even once. Whenever my periods get delayed, I start thinking about the pregnancy and suddenly after 15-20 days periods would come. I avoid getting my self from the doc due to a fear that the test will come out negative. every month when the periods come, i get psychologically disturb and that affects my professional and personal life both. I do not know how to deal with it....I am fed up of taking medicines and all those painful and expensive medical test which often result in nothing.

Hello. I had unprotected sex during what may have been ovulation time and took prostinor within 12 hours. After only spotting a tiny bit of blood just before my period date, I am not 2 weeks late from having an actual period. I have taken two at-home pregnancy tests: the first was positive, and took one immediately after which was negative. Does Prostinor affect pregnancy test results? I do have an appointment scheduled with my doctor soon but am worried.

I just had a baby a little over 8 weeks ago. My husband and I had a few oops and I was worried about being pregnant so I decided to test. I do not know for sure if I ovulated but I have not had my post postpartum menstrual cycle. I tested on Monday it came back negative, tested again on Tuesday and got a faint . I called my dr office and was instructed to go in for a blood test. It came back negative, the test given was a Yes/No blood test not a beta. It came back negative. Could the test be incorrectly negative? Or possibly a false positive? Does a diuretic affect pregnancy test results? I took a diuretic the day before would that affect my results on the home pregnancy test or the blood test?
