Can Anemia Medications For Low Potassium Cause Blood Pressure Problems?

I am 35 overweight I was recently diagnosed with chrosis(sp?) of the live non alcholoic type. Which they say best thing is gastric bypass. Well liver specialist just called also saying I was anemic and potassium low. My PCP ran bloodwork recent and potassium was normal yet he said it would not hurt to still take the potassium since it was low 3 weeks ago. My question the meds for being anemic and low potassium if your levels are back to normal will it hurt taking meds. Liver Dr said it woudl not hurt anything. Also dealing with a heart Dr with bloodpressure issues. Can anemia mess with BP?

Hi! Sounds confusing. If a potential client sat down and told me he was taking potassium without any reason I would have an exaggerated response of irritation. Potassium can affect the heart and the blood pressure. No one should be on protein unless it is low, it is needed for another medical reason, but never give potassium to someone with normal levels if there is no need."Above all, do no harm" Next, when you refer to meds, I am not certain what meds you are referring to. Anemia may affect blood pressure most frequently being involved in low blood pressure if at all.How does your doctor know if you have an iron, b12 or folic acid deficiency for your anemia?

You can ask him to explain it to you. In looking at a CBC one would expect to see a low HB, Low Hct, low mcv, and low serum ferrtin with iron deficiency.
To correct take your iron with a good source of C. A high Hemoglobin (HB) and or a high MCV, and a low B12 is a B12 deficiency. If B12 is treated prior to checking for folic acid deficiency it may cause severe deformities in infants
We are speaking of Nutritional Medicines. I hope I have provided you with good information. With best wishes for continued health.
