Last Tuesday I played in a Church softball game. I caught a line drive with my gloved left hand. Though the force of the ball was sufficient to snap my wrist back, it did not cause any immediate pain or discomfort. The following day at work I noticed a sharp stabbing pain in my hand just before the wrist joint. Using a labeled bone structure diagram, the pain is pinpointed nears as I can tell over the trapezium/scaphoid bone area. There is slight bruising but no swelling. At rest and with regular activity this area is a dull achy/burning pain. If I push on the spot it is a sharp intense pain. The pain does not radiate much beyond this specific area. I cannot tell if this is a bone or soft tissue injury. Where it has been nearly a week since the onset of symptoms and the pain is still rather acute, I am wondering if I need to go in for a check up or if it will pass with time. OTC anti-inflammatories and ice help alleviate the pain temporarily.

Was in a cycling accident 9 1/2 weeks ago. Clean fracture of radial head and another clean fracture of the humerus right above the elbow. X-rays at ER taken of shoulder and wrist with no fractures apparent. Complaining of wrist, thumb, and finger pain after splint was put on by Ortho 5 days after accident. Went back to Ortho took additional wrist and hand x-rays show no fracture. Put a thumb spika on. 9 1/2 weeks later--elbow is healing well, most flexibility has returned to elbow. However, I can not bend my wrist back at all and there is sharp pain when gripping, pinching, or trying to twist (i.e. cannot twist door knob). Had an MRI which shows wrist joint capsule is inflamed along with inflammation of tendons. What is the treatment for this type of injury?
