Can An Enlarged Liver Cause Lower Abdominal Pain?

hello doctor, I am suffering from a pain in the right lower abdomen, i have done all the necessary test like full abdomen usg, barium x-ray, liver function test, stool and urine test. the result shows i have a enlarged liver and my sgpt range is high. but this pain is not in the liver region, it is situated more lower position.the pain is only in the right side. . I have visited two doctors, one says is is a infection in the food canal and he prescribed two tablets., named Decolic and Swich 200. the other doctor says it is a inflamation in the liver and gallbladder and he prescribed Izra D, Decolic Capsule and a anitibiotic named Wymox 250. what should I do now, pls suggest me.

Hi,

You find me a bit speechless. I’m so sorry to learn about your suffering! First of all: the liver itself has no nerv endings, so inflammations of the liver do not cause pain. Issues with the gall bladder sometimes. Your GPT being high means that there is something unusual going on in your liver, however, it can also be only a side-effect of the medications you got.

What you need is this:
- A contrast enhanced sonography of the liver and MRI of the abdomen
- The complete test panel for liver diseases (blood tests, all of them)
- A colonoscopy (and a gastroscopy)

Everything else is like playing bingo with your health.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Alexander Davis, General & Family Physician
