Can An Eardrum Rupture Cause Ear Wax Colored Fluid All Around The Ear?

My 5 month old son woke up this morning with ear wax colored fluid dried all over the lobe and inside of his ear. Some of it had even leaked out and dried on the side of his head. He was not running a fever and has not been exceptionally fussy. Could this be a eardrum rupture, and does it need to be treated?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi, thanks for your query.
In my opinion, you r son might be having a infection of the middle ear. And the pus +blood+wax would have drained out making hole in the ear drum. Ear drum hole will be a pin hole. Not too big to worry. It will heal on its own once the ear infection reduces
It is not necessary to have fever always during ear infection.
If I were your treating doctor, I would have clinically examined the child and I diagnose infection, then I would start him on penicillin antibiotics + antihistamines+ anti inflammatory medicines for 5 to 7 days. All these are prescription medicines, so I would advise you to consult with the doctor. Empirically you can take anti inflammatory medicines like paracetamol syrup+ antihistamines syrup to help pain and to dry up the secretion.
