Can An Auto Accident Trauma Cause Blood In Stool?

My wife was in a car accident and the front and side driver s airbags deployed. yesterday she started spotting (she is menopausal) and today she said she had fresh blood in her stool? she went to the hospital after the accident and was discharged. should we be concerned about the bleeding?

Thanks for the query.
The possible causes bleeding in stools are presence of anal fissures, hemorrhoids and any local injury due to the accident.
If the bleeding is minimal and subsides no need to worry. But if the bleeding is persistent better to consult a General Surgeon once and get examined to find out the possible cause of the problem and take treatment accordingly.
Constipation can lead to anal fissures and hemorrhoids which can lead to bleeding in stools. So, constipation should be avoided.
