Not precisely - but it can detect if part of the heart muscle has been damaged, which usually is caused by blockage. They have to do other tests to determine blockage. EKG can also determine blockage indirectly by putting the heart under stress like on a treadmill and it will show if there is not enough oxygen getting to the heart muscle, again, a condition usually caused by blockage.

I am a 33 yr old female and I swear I have heart issues. I have had so many test done for my heart and everything has come back 100% normal. i have had countless number of EKG s I have a 48 heart montior I had a echo of my heart. my bp is a little high (bottom number in the low 80 s) my cholesterol total is 166. I do suffer from panic/anxiety and my Dr (bless his heart he is awesome) says all the things I feel is related to my panic not heart. Is there really anything else they could do to test my heart or did I pretty get everything? My doc said he wouldn t send me for a cardic cath cuz everything else was fine. Yes I do take meds to my panic attacks.

I am a 53 yo female worried about having a heart attack. I have at times had pain in my ribs on my right side that travels towards my spine. Usually, Advil or Bayer aspirin helps the discomfort. For the past week, this mid back pain seems to be coming through to the upper center abdomen. I had taken several 500 mg bayer aspirin over a couple day period so I don t know if I just irritated my stomach or if this is heart related. I have no shortess of breath, dizziness or sweating. I was taking Metroprolol (25 mg 2x daily) and also had Lisinoprol added (one 5mg daily) as I had a echocardiogram which showed a slight enlargement on the left side of my heart. My total cholesterol is high at 250, my HDL is good at 63. My doctor hasn t put me on medication - trying to get it down by diet (I am overweight). While I feel some discomfort in my chest, am I worrying needlessly? I know an echocardiogram doesn t show blocked arteries but, could it be assumed after watching the blood flow to/from the heart that there could be blockages? Should I rest easier knowing that I ve just had the echo and my dr didn t seem needlessly concerned?

I have chest wall pain at about a 4-7 on a scale of 10 with 10 being the worst. I have been checked for heart attack, with xray, EKG, and blood studies and have been told there is no problem with the heart. My question is: could there be arterial blockages causing my pain. The pain is not centralized but moves around over the entire chest cavity. Right now its under the left should blade and slightly toward center of the back? This has been going on for about a week with little or now relief. I recently stopped taking Zocor thinking this was the problem, but as of yet no long term relief. I also have stopped taking Celebrex in hopes that these would help also. HELP.
