Can A Wound Or An Infection In The Uterus Cause PCOD?

Is PCOD possible because of wounds or infection in the uterus? My sister-in-law has been having a problem in her periods for around past two years. At the beginning of her cycle she doesn t bleed properly for two days and afterwards the flow is two much she cant bear it. Six months back she consulted a doctor who said that she had some kind of swelling in her uterus, now the same doctor said that she has wounds in her uterus and due to that she has got cysts formed in her ovaries. Is it all possible? Please help.

OBGYN 's  Response
Hi,

I would like to share some information about PCOD and how it can be treated. Firstly, I would like to know if anyone diagnosed PCOD in her.

The condition is a hormone-related failure of ovulation. It is not due to infection in the uterus. Cysts of the ovary are a consequence.

The hormone imbalance can be due to several associated situations namely, weight changes, abnormal insulin metabolism with insulin resistance, altered FSH/LH ratio, cysts in the ovaries, elevated prolactin levels in the serum, irregular/failed ovulation etc.

Treatment is planned according to the specific need along with modified life-style. The response is very good. I would ask you to see a specialist for a proper appraisal of the situation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
