Can a temperature of 99 F be a fever if I normally run around 96.5 degrees?

Can a temperature of 99 F be a fever if I normally run around 96.5 degrees? My body temperature normally runs pretty low, averaging at about 96.5 degrees, but sometimes down to 95.3 or so. Would a temperature of 99 be considered a moderate fever for me? It's 2.5 degrees higher than normal for me, but I know 99 degrees isn't particularly significant in general.

It could be considered as fever as it is 2.5 degrees higher than your usual body temperature.

Parents get too worried about their kids’ fevers. When a fever strikes a child most parents overmedicate, use cold baths unnecessarily and check temperatures too frequently. Fever is the body s defence mechanism against either viruses or bacteria. It is an important way by which the body fights infection. The body tries to create so much heat that the virus or the bacteria cannot survive. Having a temperature helps the child fight illness. The part of the human brain which controls body temperature is not fully developed in children. That means that children s temperature may rise and fall very quickly. The temperature of their surroundings very easily affects a child s body temperature. If it is very hot, take off some of your child s clothes so heat can escape from their body. If it is very cold, parents can help their child stay warm by dressing him or her in warm clothes. What is the normal temperature for a child? If you take the temperature in your child s mouth or ear, the normal temperature is between 36° and 36.8° C (97.7° to 99.1°F). Does it make a difference where the temperature is taken? The temperature can be taken by putting the thermometer in the child s mouth, under her arm, in her ear, in her bottom, or using strips that are placed on the forehead. The most reliable results are achieved by taking the temperature in the child s bottom - known as the rectal method. Temperatures taken here are most accurate and are about 0.5 degrees C higher in the mouth. Temperature taken in the armpit is not very reliable and will be about 0.5 degrees C (2 degrees F) lower than the mouth temperature.

goodevening...i suffered from chicken pox exactly 3 weeks ago and since then i have kept a check on my fever. my problem since then is that my fever keeps coming back every evening around 5-6 and stays till around 11:30. at the other times of the day my temperature is normal. even at night my temperature is normal. also my chicken pox spots went away in the normal period of 7 days and did not give me much of a trouble. i have been taking multivitamins since 5 days now but still no help. i do not have any other symptoms but only this fever which keeps coming back in the evenings.also my fever does not exceed 99F. it only fluctuates between 37.1 and 37.2.also i just feel a little weak but that really is not a big problem which affects me. i feel it could be my recovery from the viral. basically fever is my main problem. i am really worried abt this now. please can you help me with some answer?

My understanding is that for most healthy adults body temperature drops when sleeping reaching it s lowest point for the day a couple hours before waking. I have been told recently that for babies/children this is not the case...that temperature actually rises while they sleep so I should wait at least 30 minutes after they wake up to take their temperature. I am very skeptical that this is actually the case. I would appreciate some education from an expert. Thanks!

On Christmas night I had a bout of food poisoning, accompanied by intense shivering and a body temp of 95.8 (taken on both a standard oral thermometer and a digital one). The vomiting / diareaha lasted about 8 hours, and the low body temp about 10. What exactly caused the low body temp, and was it dangerous?
