I fell off my bike and landed hard on my chin a couple weeks ago. (Much blood) I couldn t close my jaw for a few days. I had dry needling to relax some face muscles and seemed to help. Now I have sharp pain that I think is coming from my left ear. Can it be related?
Hi, the trauma to the jaw can be a frequent cause of earache because of two reasons; an injury to the temporo mandibular joint region or the malocclusion produced due to injury to jaw. Please get a dental examination done to assess occlusion. Also get an xray both temporomandibular joints in open and closed mouth position done. An OPG will also help in assessing the region and should be done in consultation with an oral surgeon. Use of analgesics, hot fermentation and avoidance of forceful jaw movements help. Regards
