Can a protrusion in the rectum be a symptom of a hemorrhoid?

hi my husband had back surgery 2 wks ago today and he has been struggling with his bowels finally becoming active in the past few days with stool softenners but today he has been bleeding from the rectum after all the attempts to void some much more difficult than others. I went and picked up some witchhazel wipes and prep H but have not used the prep H yet due to the warning on the label to avoid its use with bleeding present so I looked at his rectum and there is a fairly large dark protrusion on one side that is very dark in color , I'm not sure if it is a hemorrhoid or a piece stool with old blood in it and now not sure if I should leave it alone or try to push it back inside to relieve his discomfort

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* As per my clinical experience, the protrusion in rectum with pink color narrates hemorrhoid.
* Sitz bath (sitting in a tub filled with lukewarm water added epsom salt) helps a lot till he meets his doc.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

I recently relocated and lifted heavy furniture in the process, approximately four days ago i noticed a bump/lump if you will near my rectum about the size of a green grape and rather hard similar to an olive with pit in tact. I thought that if was originating from my rectum [not having insurance, I begun treating it as if it were hemroids.] It seems to receed, to a location between my vaginal area and rectnum. It does not exhibit pain as the symptoms of hemroids nor a boil, but rather feels like a tender muscle..... Is it possible that it is a hernia (?) of sorts, I am a 52 year old female, pls help

Hi, I am curently pregnant in my first trimester and think I have hemerroids. Some nights my rectum is itchy and I often get sharp shooting pain inside my bum and other times its like throbbing pain. If I pass gas or poo it usually helps. If it is hemerroids is there anything I can do to make it go away? I drink as much water as I can am being very conscious of not sitting too long and I eat foods that contain finer so my stools are soft. Please don t say this is just another symptom of being pregnant I m going to have to live with for the next right months

I had several hemorrhoids removed when I was about 35. They were both in and out of the rectum. Recently I have had a bit of blood come out during a bowel movement - no pain nor any protrusions that I can see. It could be a return of the hemorrhoids but my question is could it be cancer?
