Can A Lump In The Knee Cap Cause Pain?

Hi, I am a regular runner, but lately have had pain in my left knee. Having felt the knee there is a small lump on the knee cap itself, does this mean anything? Or just paranoia?! I was taking Terbinafine for a nail infection and had read that sore joints could be side-effect.

Hi,

Swelling over the knee along with pain suggests bursitis, pain in prepatellar bursitis, (type of bursitis in which there is swelling over knee) occurs while doing flexion or on putting direct pressure over the knee cap. You need to get an MRI done to reach a diagnosis. In the meantime, start doing icing over the swelling, and take some anti-inflammatory medicine, along with prevention of any type of pressure over knee cap.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
