Can A Hormone Patch Be Used For Women Over 14 Stone?
Hello i have currantly got a hormone implant in my arm which was inserted about 7months ago. I have basicly bled every day since and i cannot cope with it any more. I am really interested in the hormone patch as i have tried everything else but i am 15 stone and it said they normally dont do it on women over 14 stone. Why is that? Is there no way i can get it? I am currantly on a diet but i seriously cannot wait any longer as it is ruining my relationship with my fiance.
I have read your question fully and understand your concerns.
It is unfortunate that the implant contraceptive in your arm did not suit you. The reason why the contraceptive patch is not offered to women over 14 stone is due to research by Ziemen et al who showed that women over 14 stone were more likely to have contraceptive failure and fall pregnant whilst on the patch. Women less than 14 stone in weight had low risk of contraceptive failure. .
It is really appreciable that you are trying your best to lose weight and that you are also on a diet. I would encourage you to continue this. May be a commercial weight loss programme would be beneficial to you too as you would be having a mentor to motivate you.
I hope this answer has helped you.
Thank you.
