Can A Chopped Wound At The Tip Of The Finger Be Treated?

hi I accidentally chopped off the tip of my finger with a hatchet yesterday I immediately applied pressure and ran and got some triple antibiotic ointment and gauze and applied it with firm pressure and taped it in place the gauze has stuck into the wound and has totally hardened like a fingernail and it is too painful to remove I am wondering if I should seek urgent care or if I can deal with this later

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

You can apply topical antibiotics. It does not seem like a deep wound and this suturing is not required. If there is signs of infection, it is better to consult a general surgeon and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
