Can A Tonsillitis Operation Be Done For A Person With Amplatzer Fitted To Close A PFO?

Hi, i have had 11 bouts of Tonsillitis since last year and saw a Ent specicalist last week, but because i may need to go on Heparin they may not be able to do the operation to remove the tonsils. I am 46 and had an Amplatzer fitted in 2007 to close a PFO? Why can they not do the operation?

hello, thanks for ur query, to prevent clotting to maintain ur amplatzer, they r giving heparin, whomever gets injury or operation who is receiving heparin may leads to frank bleeding due to loss of clotting mechanism. tonsillectomy it self is a bleeding procedure,it may lead to unstoppable bleed during d procedure.it can be done after pt / inr values comes to normal after stopiing heparin. all d best. take care.
