Can Xanax Be Taken Prior To A Workout?

I am a disabled veteran who has been on Xanax for 18 years. Low dose at the start, but for the last 10 years, I take 3 1/2 mgs a day (morning / noon / night). Without it, I get very ill. My question: I work out 4 to 5 days a week. I take a 1/2 mg in the morning (roughly 5 hours before working out) then I workout and take 1 mg within an hour after working out. Tonight, for the first time, I worked out within an hour of taking the 1 mg. I feel fine, and would like to continue working out late in the evenings and then follow with my last dose of 2 mgs about an hour after working out (roughly 10pm). Is there any harm in working out on Xanax, especially in my case where I have tolerated it for so many years? Wes

Hello Wes.
Xanax is a sedating drug and can cause drowsiness. It is not advised to do heavy work after taking xanax. But as your body is tolerating it, you can do workouts. there is no medical contraindication. but be cautious about its ability to cause drowsiness.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
