Can Vaseline Or Neosporin Be Used For Cracked Hands Caused Due To Dryness?

Due to the very dry climate I have a quarter-inch crack in my skin on the top of my hand, with intermittent very slight bleeding. Should I apply Vaseline or Neosporin, or neither? Do I need to cover it with a band-aid? My email is YYYY@YYYY

Hi.
As per your case history you are having keratoderma.
My treatment advice is -
1. Use a glycerine soap like dove or pears for regular use.
2. Apply an emollient cream like Enmoist cream twice daily on affected skin. It is better than Vaseline.
3. Other treatment options are oral vitamin A, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
