Can UTI Cause Upper Abdominal Pain, Back Pain And Shoulder Pain?

Hello! I had been experiencing abdominal pain, mostly in my upper quadrant, near my gallbladder. (Thought it was gallstones). I went to go get checked and came back positive for a UTI. Now two days after taking Macrobid, my upper back, in between my shoulder blades, hurts like crazy and I still have that pain near my gallbladder. Could I have something else besides the UTI?

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

UTI cannot cause upper abdominal pain, back pain and shoulder pain. However fever due to severe UTI can cause these symptoms. UTI normally cause pain in lower abdomen, burning sensation during urination, frequent urination etc.
There can be many reasons of upper abdominal pain such as Acidity, gastritis, Indigestion, GERD( gastro esophageal reflux syndrome), angina pectoris(mild heart attack), etc.
Gastric problems like indigestion, Gastritis & gerd cause pain in centre of upper addomen. Angina pectoris ca cause pain in left upper adoman & can radiate to left shoulder. However pain in sides of back could also be due to kidney problem. Gall bladder pain occurs on right side of abdomen & occurs after having food.

Refer to a physician
Hope this helps
