Can Triamterene Cause Gout?
Can triamterine/hits 37.5-25 possibly cause gout. I am a vegetarian, do not drink or smoke, not over weight, no risk factors for gout. Take med for HTN. Which is well controlled. 71 yrs old but can pass for 55. Thank you Clarice McDonald

Triamteren/htz is a combination pill containing 2 diuretics to lower blood pressure.
Its use is reported to raise the levels of blood uric acid (hyperuricemia) that consequently might cause gout and kidney problems.
You should check your blood uric acid levels on regularly basis. If it would be found high, then, should talk to your doctor about changing therapy.
