Can Triamcinolone Acetonide Be Applied On An Open Sore?
I am using Triamcinolone Acetonide for a skin rash due to a medicine allergy. I have stasis dermatitis on my lower left leg and have an open sore there. I also have the rash on the same area. I have been putting the cream on the whole area and now my leg is somewhat hurting in the area of the open sore. Am I wrong to apply the cream to the open sore?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history of stasis dermatitis, my treatment advice is -
1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply triamcinolone cream on the lesions twice daily.
3. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream twice daily on open sores. If problem persists then consult a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
