General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the choice of anti psychotic molecule indicates clinical presentation and symptoms. It is quite common to prescribe 2 anti psychotic medications during initial cases for rapid control of hallucination and delusion symptoms. The both drugs act on 5HT2 and D2A receptors in the brain and hence, act upon Mesolimbic pathway to reduce the levels of dopamine neurotransmitter. It is the advantage of synergistic actions of both drugs which gives the best initial clinical response in acute psychosis stage.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
