General & Family Physician 's  Response
Prolia (denosumab) is used for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at increased risk of fractures. The common side effects are transient decreases in serum calcium, skin infections like cellulitis, urinary tract infection, upper respiratory tract infection, cataracts, constipation, sciatica, rash, pain in extremity and osteonecrosis of the jaw.
Advice
1.     Take denosumab as suggested by your doctor. But before starting Prolia, check your serum calcium level. If is low then discuss with your doctor about it. It needs to be corrected to normal level. If serum calcium is normal then continue Prolia
2.     Maintain good oral hygiene
3.     If you get any sign of skin infection then consult your doctor
4.     Dental check up annually as denosumab might causes osteonecrosis of jaw. Although it is a rare side effect
5.     Investigations:
a.     Serum calcium
b.     Serum vitamin D3
Thanks
