Can Progesterone Be Continued To Prevent Post Menopausal Bleeding?
Hi, I m 59 and have been having post menopausal bleeding. Had D&C about 2 months ago. Removed some polyps and small fibroids and all pathology came back ok. Started spotting again 1 month later. Returned to GYN who put me on progesterone 10 mg., for 10 days. Spotting stopped within 3 days but came back after I finished the 10 day course. Each day it gets heavier. Today I am having a pretty heavy flow with clots and cramping. GYN is now telling me to take the progesterone continuously (daily) for 3 months and then wants to see me again. I ve been taking it for 3 days now but the flow continues to get heavier. Should I continue the course as my GYN ordered or seek a second opinion? Thank you
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, if this is the menopause and on some hormone therapy so some time it makes the condition more jeopardize, so better to stop the hormone therapy, in case of profuse bleeding may need hemostatic drugs, bed rest is also necessary have some vitamin c and stop worrying about this hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day
