Can OTC vitamins and herbs cause any side effects?

I was prescribed Azithromycin today and was checking side effects. I take CoQEnzyme on a daily basis with lots of other vitamins, herbs, and I noticed on the printout, it said to not take any over the counter herbs, vitamin. Is this true? It also said not to drink green tea? Did I read all of that? Can't imagine how this drug can be good with all the side effects listed - most of which I was prescribed for....shortness of breath, coughing, etc.

Hi
I am Dr Alok, pleased to answer your health related queries
Yes, a lot of herbs and vitamin has side effects.
Vitamin A,D and E -especially causing side effects if given in large doses
Other vitamin -B and C are excreted via urine, if given unnecessary

A lot of herbs causing liver or kidney problems, unfortunately there are no safety data or doses are known

So donot take herbal medicines without discussing with your doctor, although no one safely say about their saftey in long term, as no concrete study available
Hope this will help
