Can Norvasc Be Taken While Suffering From Parkinson S Disease?

Can a person with Parkinson s disease take norvasc? My husband always had good blood pressure and for some reason after having 4 stents put in on 12/12/17, his BP has been high, especially the bottom number. Our cardiologist just changed his BP medication to norvasc.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Yes, a patient with Parkinson’s disease can take Norvasc for controlling high blood pressure. Norvasc does not significantly interact with anti – Parkinson’s disease drugs. There are numerous causes of high BP but in most of the cases, cause is unknown.
Advice
1.     Continue Norvasc and other medicines as suggested by your doctor
2.     Regular exercise at least 30 minutes for 5 days in a week
3.     Eating a diet that is rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products
4.     Consume less salt
5.     Avoid smoking, alcohol, coffee and caffeinated beverages
6.     Reduce your metal stress because stress activates sympathetic system and increases BP
7.     Measure BP regularly and be in touch with your doctor
