Can Neoxicam Be Taken Along With Ivanode And Olmezest?
Hi, my mother is 63 and has to been taking Ivanode 5 and Olmezest 40 for the past 15 years. She had been recently prescribed neoxicam 7.5mg. Is it safe to take both meds together. She has been warned by her cardiologist not to take Pain killers as it may increase her heart rate. But her ortho thinks it is fine. Kindly advise
Hi & Welcome. I appreciate your concern for your beloved mother. It's not safe to take Neoxicam along with Olmezest. Neoxicam (Meloxicam) may reduce the effects of Olmezest (Olmesartan) in lowering blood pressure resulting in uncontrolled blood pressure. It may affect her kidney function, especially when they are used together frequently or chronically. She is more likely to develop impaired kidney function during treatment with these medications. Therefore, she should not take Neoxicam as a pain killer. Instead she can use Paracetamol or other analgesics for the symptomatic relief of pain after consulting her cardiologist.
