Can Monistat Be Combined With A Few Drops Of White Vinegar?

I gave a yeast infection to my partnet - it s been about 4 days, he s been using my monistat - he swears it s not working; I bought him jock itch cream to see if that does the trick, if not I told him to mix the monistat with the white vinager (he thinks I m crazy); I didn t know I had a yeast infection until we both started having issues.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Fungal infections should be treated with a course of anti-fungals (Fluconazole) and taken by both the partners. Topical application of ointments and creams like Miconazole (Monistat, Micatin), Clotrimazole (Lotrimin) are effective when applied on the affected areas after having a warm bath/ shower.

Both the partners are suggested to wear loose fitting cotton clothes and avoid sex for a couple of days. Keep the groin clean and dry. Fungal infection grows in sweaty, moist warm private areas. Wash your clothes and bedding in hot water frequently. To stay on the safer side, get STD tests done.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
