Can Mirtazapine Side Effects Of Weight Gain And Acid Reflux Be Treated?

I have been taking Mirtazapine for 4 weeks now and immediately my depression cleared up. I am gaining alot of weight and have been experiencing heartburn. I want to continue taking this medication however the two side effects are devastating. Can you give me any insight into this?

Mirtazapine is a good antidepressant drug. It can cause sedation, increased appetite and weight gain as side effect. When the drug is started it cause improvement in symptoms which further result in increased appetite and weight gain. I would advise you to exercises daily to improve weight loss. Have balanced diet rich in proteins. Some drugs like Topiramate can be used in your case for weight loss. Topiramate is known to cause loss of weight and and help in mood stabilisation also. You can consult your psychiatrist regarding this drug.

Hello

Mirtazapine can commonly cause weight gain.
First is to reduce the dose to minimum possible.
Second, dietary modifications like reducing fatty and junk foods.
Third, exercise for 30 min daily.

Drink lots of water.
Tablet pantoprazole will help in acid reflux.
