Can Menthol Be Given For Mild Cough?

My mother-in-law takes digoxin, amlodipine, and lisinopril. Her doctor put her on Aleve for her arthritis pain, and said not to use creams with menthol. She is currently dealing with a mild cough and soar throat from allergies. Can she use menthol cough drops while taking these meds?
