Your child is probably suffering from a viral infection.
Usually Paracetamol is safest drug to reduce the raised body temperature in young children.
However, if fever does not subside even after taking paracetamol, then Meftal-P can be given to the young children.
Meftal-P (Mefenemic acid) is a non steroidal anti inflammatory drug which can be given at 4 to 6.5 mg/kg per dose (maximum 25 mg/kg/day). It can be given safely to your baby having a temperature of 102°F and without any other symptoms. The minimum interval between doses would be 6 hours.
Along with medications, your baby should be given enough oral fluids or juices and tepid sponging to be done frequently to reduce the high temperature and the cause of fever if any like infection must be sought out and treated with an appropriate antibiotic to be prescribed by a doctor.
