Can Meftal P Be Give For Treatment Of Fever In An Infant?

My daughter is 2 years old, she is suffering from throat infection. Because of that she is having fever as well. Doctor suggested to give CLAVAM - antibiotic. I have given that. But now her temperature crosses 102 degree. Can I give her Meftal P? Please advice.

Hi,

I understand your concern.

You are saying that your 2 years old daughter is suffering of throat infection with high fever. Usually, throat infection is due to virus. If her doctor suggested to give Clavam - antibiotic (amoxicillin + clavulonic acid), it means that the infection was due to bacteria.

As she is still having 102 degree temperature, then, antipyretics are recommended. Meftal P contains the active ingredient mephenamic acid which is also an antipyretic (used to reduce fever).
You can give Meftal P to lower fever. Can alternate with paracetamol if still fever.
