Can Lisinopril Cause Pancreatitis?

I am looking for a blood pressure medicine that does not have pancreatitis as a possible side effect. My husband had acute pancreatitis a few years ago and recently started taking lisinopril again, since he has been taking it he has had three episodes of pancreatitis. Is there any bp medicine that is safe for someone with his history?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Lisinopril does have pancreatitis listed as a side effect, though it is quite rare, so I don't know how likely it would be related to your husband's pancreatitis. However, a similar blood pressure medication, Losartan, does not have pancreatitis as a side effect and would work as well as lisinopril, so it may be a good choice if you want to make sure lisinopril is not part of the cause of his pancreatitis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
