Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hashimotos thyroiditis as an autoimmune condition which leads to hypothyroidism.
Most patients with this condition will need life long supplementation with levothyroxine since the thyroid gland is unable to produce adequate amounts of the hormone.
It is a very essential and moreover safe drug provided the dose is appropriate and your thyroid function is monitored regularly.
It is best you continue with the drug and monitor your thyrpid function as per your clinicians advice.
