Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was prescribed Levaquin 750 today. Tomorrow, I am to begin azithromycin to target long term MAI infection. My pharmacist advised me not to take both drugs at the same time. I called prescribing physician and he disagreed-- said I should take both. What do you think?
I would suggest you to avoid using together these two medications. Using together Levaquin with Azithromycin can increase the risk of an irregular heart rhythm.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
General & Family Physician
