Can L-Arginine and Proanthocyanidin be taken during pregnancy?

My wife is 13 weeks pregnant. But in the latest ultrasound, the doctor said baby is 10 weeks 5 days and suggested wife to take l-arginine and proanthocyanidin granules sachet of 5 gm for 1 month. So, I want to know whether is it advisable take that sachets or not in 13 weeks pregnenacy?

Since the growth of the fetus is not matching with the gestational age, these medications have been advised. L-arginine is an amino acid. It helps maintain good blood flow during pregnancy. This would aid in getting proper nutrients for the growing fetus.

Proanthocyanidin is a group of flavonoids. These are health supplements used for promoting fetal growth by increasing blood supply to placenta and fetus. These sachets are specifically given to patients at risk of pre-eclampsia or intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR).

Kindly take the medications as prescribed and do the necessary follow-up as advised by your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
