Can I Take Next Choice Emergency Contraceptive After Unprotected Sex?

I took Next Choice emergency contraceptive, after unprotected sex. 2 days later, I have gotten white, pasty, not clear, silky discharge, with a slight odor, almost sweet but bitter. Is this normal? A sign of pregnancy? Or perhaps a side-effect of the Next Choice pill?

Hello,

Yes, you should take Next choice emergency CP after unprotected sex. It can be taken within three - five days of unprotected sex. It is a plan B, CP, the two pills should be taken 12 hours apart. Plan B is not a very effective CP. If you are not on regular CP, you may get pregnant.

If you miss your periods you should consult a gynecologist and get clinically examined. Get urine and blood tests done to confirm pregnancy. HCG appear faster in the blood than in the urine. Your treating gynecologist may tell you to go an USG. Get it done so that your symptoms can be managed accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
