I am scheduled for a mammogram tomorrow afternoon. Some friends are meeting for lunch to celebrate birthdays, can I have a margarita or will that change any results of the test. Our ages are 59-62, so we are not big drinkers, just wanted to make sure it would not do anything to the results. thanks
It is fine to drink alcohol before a mammogram. It is true that studies have shown that women who drink consistently sometimes have more dense breast tissue.
That can make it harder to read the mammogram. But that is a long term issue, not a short term one. Drinking on the day of a mammogram will not effect your image.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care

Dr. Lisa Baker
