Can I Go For Ultrasound With A Titanium Cage Insert In Back?

I would like to get an MRI or Ultrasound because of stomach problems like bloating, constant discomfort after eating anything, upset stomach and excessive acid, etc., etc, etc., BUT my doctor says because I have had a titanium cage insert in my left side of my back L4, L5, S1 that I am NOT eligible for those procedures!!!! Why is she saying this and can I not have this procedure??

Hi,

Thanks for the query.

MRI uses a magnetic field that is why any one with any metallic implants can't undergo the test. While Ultrasound uses sound waves so there is no contradiction with a metallic implant.

Hope this answers your query. If any further question, will be happy to help you.

I find this answer helpful
