Diarrhoea is just a symptom which may indicate significant underlying problems like gastroenteritis, infections, malabsorption ,food poisoning or food allergy or other git disorders. The stool output and frequency in diarrhoea can be minimised by stat dose of anti diarrhoeal drugs like racecadrotil capsule (redotril, redicate etc) and supportive treatment with probiotics like lactobacillus (enterogermina, econorm sachet to be taken with water .etc). But stopping the diarrhoea without treating the underlying problem is going to provide only short term relief and infact may worsen the underlying condition if treatment is further delayed.
