Can Hydrocodone Be Used As A Substitute For Tramadol?
Yes my mother takes tramadol 50mg from her pain management doctor, was hospitalized for improper dose age with her Bipolar manic stage. We have to give her her meds for safey now. We failed to keep up with the refill last pill no refill. Will hydroco done work until dr authorized refill?

Tramadol is a narcotic-like pain reliever. Tramadol is used to treat moderate to severe pain.
Hydrocodone is an opioid pain medication.
It can be used in place of Tramadol.
However, opoid or narcotic medication should be used with caution and under medical supervision. Both the medications can slow or stop breathing, because they are centrally acting compounds.
Never use this medicine in larger amounts, or for longer than prescribed.

Since tramadol also has serotonergic effect thus can increase chances of depression if thinking of discontinuing,and also people have reported cases of seizures while getting off from tramadol and since both are addiction drugs thus thinking of substituting one for another will have same effect of withdrawal, thus appointment with a pain management doctor might help.
2. You can start with Gabapentin 300mg to help with the pain from nerve damage.
