Can Hydrocodone Be Taken With Lisinopril?

I take lisinopril for pre-hypertension (10-12.5 mg tab once daily). Blood pressure before lisinopril was 175 over 100 but has averaged 115 over 70 for months. I am a 63 year old male and take no other meds. I have gout which has flared up and makes it difficult to walk. Ibuprofin does little. I have some hydrocodone ?apap 7.5/325 tbmck tabs left over from some oral surgery. Would it be dangerous to take a hydrocodone pill?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

While hydrocodone would not typically be a treatment for gout, since it does not treat the cause of the pain, which is inflammation, I don't see any reason that it would be unsafe to take temporarily.

But if you can get in to see your doctor to get started on a stronger anti-inflammatory than Ibuprofen, such as colchicine, or prednisone, that would be preferable in my opinion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
