Can Hydrocodone Be Taken In Place Of Oxycodone?

I have been on Oxycod/acetamin 5-325 mcg for knee surgery. I ran out and have some old hydrocod/acetam 5-325. I could take 1 or 2 of the Oxycod but the Hydrocod says only 1. Could I take 2 of the Hydrocod. until I can get a refill. I have a Dr. visit Thursday.

Hi,

Oxycodone and Hydrocodone belong to the same group of opioid analgesics and you can safely take Hydrocodone in place of Oxycodone.

However, better to stick on a single drug rather than frequent interchanging.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
