Welcome to Health care magic. Thank you for posting your question.
I can understand your concern.
First of all DO NOT PANIC.
First I will give you some information and then the steps to be done now.
YES HCV can transmitted through needle prick(lancet in this case).
After a needlestick or sharps exposure to HCV-positive blood, the risk of HCV infection is approximately 1.8% (range: 0%–10%). i.e only 18 in every
1000 needle pricks are at risk.
So there are 982 people who do not get it.
Now , what to do!
HCV infection can be detected by anti-HCV screening tests (enzyme
immunoassay) 4–10 weeks after infection.
1.baseline testing for anti-HCV and ALT(
Alanine Transaminase) activity AND
2.follow-up testing for anti-HCV (e.g., at 4–6 months) and ALT activity. If earlier diagnosis of HCV infection is desired, testing for
HCV RNA may be performed at 4–6 weeks.
3.Confirmation by supplemental anti-HCV testing of all anti-HCV results reported as positive by enzyme immunoassay.
Blood groups do not matter.
Do not worry. Take the tests .
Hope this helps.
